Mr Grosse, I think its means something like the book represents knowledge and the pages of the book we have gone through represents our knowledge so far...I think Im right but I can never be sure. However, I still dont get what you are trying to tell us, Mr Grosse. Are you trying to tell us that we have a lot to learn or that no one can know everything or what?

i think he is trying to ask how old we are? we're only 11 or 12 rite? or maybe Jane is rite?

Are we suppose to understand that question in the first place?

i think that this book or life, we are only at the start. There is so much to learn. Saying you are at the backpages would be a false statement unless you know everything on Earth which no man can ever know.this book, as you go through it (or life), you learn more and more. We could say that this book is never-ending and as time comes, it will get thicker and thicker.

I am still at the first page. After all, I have a long future ahead of me and that will take time.
Unless of course, I happened to die at a young age. (Oh no, please no...)

a book, is a symbol of knowledge throughout history, definetly in any culture. This book that mr grosse is talking about is our life, therefore, this book is about the knowledge we have, as humans aqquired throughout our lives(or at least how much we've gone through). What our aquintance Mr Brainhell said is...ahem...'I am the binding'... there could be something behind his choice of words.'binding'is also known as a backbone of this book. This indicates(My interpretation) that he thinks he is the reason for knowledge in our lives. This is not true. Everybody learns differently, whether it be through the school of hard knocks or just by monotonous lecturing.
