Order of Adjectives
ORDER
Where a number of adjectives are used together, the order depends on the function of the adjective. The usual order is:
Value/opinion, Size, Age/Temperature, Shape, Colour, Origin, Material
Value/opinion
delicious, lovely, charming
Size
small, humongous, tiny
Age/Temperature
old, hot, young
Shape
round, square, rectangular
Colour
red, brunette, black
Origin
Singaporean, Pre-War, Chinese
Material
plastic, wooden, golden
Examples:
a lovely old red letter box
some small round plastic trays
some charming small golden goblets

Actually, I have heard someone(probably a teacher) briefly skim through this topic, but I never took the time or the effort to go and find out more info.Thks Mr. Grosse, all this knowledge is really enlightening me. In this one month I've learnt so much!
So iI would be described as a fat, gigantic, old, round-bodied, born-in-the-wild elephant. Am I correct?
I would describe a lion as evil, big, prehistoric (I prefer to think it this way), shapeless, orange-coloured born-from-nowhere cotton lion.
Ian, u should post your irrelevant comments elsewhere. I think that the "order" doesnt matter so much. No one ever mentions it! Though it is good to know though...
