Long time no post

Just got a posting from Serene who mentioned its been a long time since I posted anything and maybe it was time the blog got a new look.
Well, what do you think?
I have been busy with many projects in school.
I just finished being involved in the Excel Fest last weekend and today i am going with the P5s to the NE show at the National Stadium; the last one at the 'grand old lady'. (it will be demolished and replaced by a state of the art sporting arena)
So,will I be swept by a sense of nostalgia and wistfulness?
Anyway, the fireworks will be nice!

Wanted to share with you the lyrics to a few of my favourite songs. Sing along if you want to!

Both Sides Now - Jon Mitchell

Bows and flows of angel hair and ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere, i've looked at cloud that way.
But now they only block the sun, they rain and snow on everyone.
So many things i would have done but clouds got in my way.

I've looked at clouds from both sides now,
From up and down, and still somehow
It's cloud illusions i recall.I really don't know clouds at all.
Moons and junes and ferris wheels, the dizzy dancing way you feel
As every fairy tale comes real; i've looked at love that way.
But now it's just another show. you leave 'em laughing when you go
And if you care, don't let them know, don't give yourself away.

I've looked at love from both sides now,
From give and take, and still somehow
It's love's illusions i recall.
I really don't know love at all.

Tears and fears and feeling proud to say "i love you" right out loud,
Dreams and schemes and circus crowds, i've looked at life that way.
But now old friends are acting strange, they shake their heads, they sayI've changed.
Something's lost but something's gained in living every day.

I've looked at life from both sides now,
From win and lose, and still somehowIt's life's illusions i recall.
I really don't know life at all.

OLF FRIENDS - Simon & Garfunkle

Old friends, old friends,
Sat on their parkbench like bookends
A newspaper blown through the grass
Falls on the round toes of the high shoes of the old friends
Old friends, winter companions, the old men
Lost in their overcoats, waiting for the sunset
The sounds of the city sifting through trees
Settle like dust on the shoulders of the old friends

Can you imagine us years from today,
Sharing a parkbench quietly
How terribly strange to be seventy
Old friends, memory brushes the same years,
Silently sharing the same fears

BLACKBIRD - The Beatles

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arive

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free.

Blackbird fly,
Blackbird flyInto the light of a dark black night.
Blackbird fly,
Blackbird fly
Into the light of a dark black night.

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

If you are reading this Karen, how do they compare to Jay Chou's? :}

wow mr grosse you sure responded fast. so sad the national stadium has to be torn down... i dunno why but feel quite attached to it...

you must have taken a long time to type in all that lyrics... (or maybe you cheated and copied it from somewhere else? =P)... I find the blackbird one quite interesting...

quekky..lit's interesting but its really hard to score in. like, reallyreallyreally hard. i keep screwing up the tests. sheesh. doing drama now for lit..this play about helen keller.

and i wanna..do...Something..to whoever the heck invented algebra and has made dunno how many generations of sec1s struggle to grasp the concept of standard deviation or sth. i vaguely remember the term. ><

but anyway mr grosse thx for updating! =) must keep this blog un-stagnant..one of the rosyth P6GEP2005 batch reminders!

missing it all.

NONONO algebra's perfectly fine, shiing. i don't see why you dislike it when there are other more worthy subjects to dislike. Like bio for instance now THAT'S something.
and don't call me quekky. OR piggo for that matter.

Yes, Shiing! Mrs. Sia might be a great Mathematician but that doesn't neccesarily make her a good teacher. No wonder I copy from Becky and you all the time. I love lit too but no one in my class really participates in class discussions except me, jx and grace and I don't feel comfortable talking and talking and talking all the time!

i likey:
Don't you ever wish you were someone else,
You were meant to be the way you are exactly.
Don't you ever say you don't like the way you are.
When you learn to love yourself, you’re better off by far.
And I hope you always stay the same, cuz there¹s nothin' 'bout you I would change.

ohh! That's the lyrics from 'Stay the same!' (: like that song.
Anyway,
HI MR. GROSSE!
I didn't know this blog was in function till Shiying told me. Sorry!
Oh and, again to Mr. Grosse,
Do you listen to music by Mary J. Blige? I think you'll like it! (Especially since there's a duet in there with U2) ;D
byee for now!

hello Mr. Grosse (do your students still call you mr. G? can we?)

the songs seem more like poems.(not like most songs)they're the songs that you would like. =) i guess jay chou's songs don't ... penetrate that deep; but they're in chinese, and i don't really analyse the lyrics, although some do seem to be very meaningful. (or maybe i'm just biased)

i'm listening to 'blackbird' on youtube!(its my new best friend)

coincidentally, one of the poems i chose for our literature anthology was titled 'blackbird' too! it was by james patrick kinney, i think.

OH MY GOD. "Both Sides Now" this song was used by my CCA for our recent play 'Aftermath'! (i'm in rg's drama society, ELDS, btw) <333 as a scriptwriter, of course. the ld seniors are such good writers! <33 Mr. grosse are you interested in plays? aftermath was really cool; i forgot to invite you and the other teachers. i was bugging people from p6ge.

oh, and there's this sec 3 girl in elds, her name's Olivia and she was the top scorer of Rosyth 3 years ago! i think she's gep; do you remember her? she's a great writer, actress and dancer!

i wonder how your p5s are faring; are they promising? or already brilliant? haha. teacher's day coming up! we'll see you and our other teachers again then!

our lit. tr is merely 25 years old! isn't that cool; like you, she's a great teacher. and like shiying said, we're during helen keller's miracle worker for drama this term. but honestly, i think i would have preferred shakespeare; we were studying 'the merchant of venice' for elds! but according to my seniors, we should be thanking our lucky stars for a chance NOT to do shakespeare.

is the excel fest useful? or fun? i hope you had fun with the p5s during the NE show; or at least, it was better than the actual NDP. i felt that the dances/performances were lacking. too few of them, perhaps. and what do you think of this year's ND song "My island home"? did you like it? i think kaira gong is inexperienced.

sorry for blabbering on and on. i guess if i commented more often, i can limit myself to ..er. one-paragaph-comments. i'll visit more often then!

P.S mr. grosse, sorry for not replying to your email; no excuses! ):
P.P.S do you know our blog urls? just wondering.

BeSt WiShEs! <3
